Station 04:22
S T A T I O N drink ’til the flame dies. keep time. let the past repeat. it curls. it divides. she had to hit someone. he had to hit someone. they spend their lives forgiving. they never think twice. no need to cover up. just deny. no need to worry. just deny. it’s just expensive meat. we’re just expensive meat. i can’t afford it. you can’t afford to eat. we’re just expensive meat. it’s just expensive meat. i can’t afford it. you can’t afford to eat. i switch the gas on. cancel the guarantee. black bees around my head. we run. we keep our mouths closed. loose lips get stung. she had to blame someone. he had to own someone. they spend their lives on nothing. they never ask why. why. why. our friends are always there. they come to see us fight. they bring us weapons. they bring us medicine

Overdose 04:19
O V E R D O S E get out of my head. you don’t belong. it won’t be long. ’til i get out of my head. i feel your scars. i feel your scars. they feel like cities. they feel like murder. if you want me to believe you. your lies had better start cleaning up their act. if you want me to believe you. you’d better quit now and never speak another word. get out of my head. you don’t belong. it won’t be long. ’til i get out of my head. i feel your scars. i feel your scars. they feel like authority. they feel like excuses. if you want me to believe you. your lies had better start cleaning up their act. if you want me to believe you. you’d better quit now and never speak another word. if you want me to believe you it’s time to overdose. it’s time to overdose. it’s time to say goodbye.

about

The story of Hope & Collins goes back to the last century, all the way back to 1982... a whole other era. First meeting in Sheffield's frenetic jazz/punk band THE BOX, then teaming up to form off-beat acoustic art blues 7 piece THE BONE ORCHESTRA. In the 90's they commenced on a new studio based project, THE IMPOSSIBLE, which transformed into FLEX 13 and spawned several albums.

Their approach has always been individual and uncompromising, combining the multi-instrumentalist and technical talents of Collins with the unconventional spontaneity and vocal dexterity of Hope.
All the incarnations listed above worked to well defined templates but aside of these the pair have still stretched their particular interpretation of composition and sound yet further.

Destroy Before Leaving is one such example, sitting outside of any definite time zone and concentrating on themes of discomfort; domestic violence, betrayal, anger, greed, desperation and fear. The rhythms are heavy and laboured, the undertow of bass frequencies claustrophobic and the top lines penetrating and obscure. Easy listening, it is not. But that can be said for all of Hope & Collins work. Their aim has always been to challenge, distort form, blur distinction and, in so doing, invent.

Their story is far from over. Their will more to come. Expect the unexpected.

Download comes with optional sleeve inserts and printable A4 lyric sheet.
