Formed in 1993 Hoodoo were DJ Parrot (Sweet Exorcist / All Seeing Eye / Crookedman) Pete Hope & Dave Lloyd. Recorded in Sheffield's famous FON studios for Warp Records, these tracks didn't quite fit the Warp identity of the time & were left behind in the wake of later recordings. Featuring an early recording of Rosin Murphy who was working on the first Moloko album with Mark Brydon at the time & a theme that referenced both blues and the techno legacy of the time the album weaves a hybrid that spans across more than 50 years of popular (or not so popular) musical forms. Parrot's attention to detail and superb understanding of rhythm is a perfect platform for a more restrained vocal performance from Hope which is full of richness and depth.
