about

WRONG REVOLUTION PROUDLY PRESENT THE THIRD CONVICTION OF CRIMINAL FACE.... BREAKING THE LAW AT EVERY TURN!!!!

Rufus DLux & MC NoMC return to WRONG with their 3rd. batch of reconfigured, screwed and twisted jams from between '88 & '91.

The CRIMINAL FACE experience has been quite a ride. Sometimes you come across something unexpected that defies its origins and has somehow grown more valid with the passing of time. Was there ever a Hip-House scene in Sheffield? Certainly not that i remember. Yet here is a hard-ass crunching sound the came out of a demolished council estate in the late 1980’s. Rufus DLuX & MC NoMC are the purveyors, bending technical limitations to warp in sympathy with their trusty Oberheim DMX.

Back in 1988 Sheffield was exploding with raw invention as the House scene flipped the Industrial Heartland on its back, Acid & Techno opened new doors of sonic metamorphosis, the rule book was vaporised and it was all about pushing the boundaries and creating something fresh. You can’t help but wonder just how many killer tracks are hidden away, forgotten and decaying on failed floppy discs, jammed DATs or, like the CRIMINAL FACE tracks, unmarked cassettes.

These 6 cuts run the gamut of technical limitation; Teac 4 track, Oberheim DMX & Prommer, temperamental synths, cassette machine, bass & guitar. It was all scribbled notes and impossible drop-ins, no overdubs & a background ambience of kids screaming outside in the street and running up and down the stairs. Good times, indeed! Further warped time, travel by & circumstance, aided & abetted and without doubt banged to rights in a perfectly Wrong way.

No nostalgia necessary.
